On 19 September it was my unique privilege and honour to formally open the Broadstairs campus of Nelson College. The ceremony was attended by a host of local dignitaries, including Deputy Mayor Councillor Mike Garner.
The Mission of Nelson College is to offer access to higher education to people from the widest possible range of backgrounds, enabling them to transform their lives through the acquisition of the knowledge and skills that they need to succeed in their chosen careers. In support of this Mission the College is constantly looking for new markets where it can identify a gap in higher-education provision. This has led it to Broadstairs and its hinterland in East Kent.
We have already recruited fifty HND Business students to this campus. Another fifty will join next year to study Hospitality Management.
